Melanie Jayne Chisholm’s Tattoo Melanie Jayne Chisholm has two Chinese characters tattooed on her right upper arm. The first one on the top means "woman", the second beneath, "strength, power". Together they stand for the word "girl power". While this concept is obviously distant from traditional Chinese culture, it works fine both as a body art design and a Western concept. In other words, the characters were well chosen and the design well executed. It is also nice that the first character actually means "woman" rather than "girl" because the latter would feel quite unnatural in Chinese.
